Pictures of Boundary Waters
Sept. 28, 2009
The Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA) is one of the most scenic areas in the Upper Midwest. It is full of lakes and rocky, forested terrain. It is heaven for canoe trips and merely "a nice place" for hiking (in comparison to other places in Minnesota). This photo album is from a three-day backpacking trip we took with a hiking group I found online, from Sept. 18-20. Like always, the other backpackers we met were interesting guys. Each has a love for nature that is expressed in a different way. There aren't too many good hiking trails in the BWCA; more attention is given to canoe portages (very wide trails for carrying canoes from lake to lake). We hiked one of the best -- around Snowbank Lake.
